Watch the 2017 Road Cycling World Championships!

17th-23rd September 2017

It’s that time of year again – Road World Championships, and this time we’re in Bergen, in Norway.   I’m here to tell you how to watch the women’s races, and follow them online.

I love World Championships, and Norway is so stunning.  The racing should be hilly, and hard, and most of it will be live somewhere at least – here’s the UCI TV guide, and it will all be shown on the UCI youtube.  If some things are shown in your region but not everything, you should be able to access that, but you may need a VPN (try setting it to Canada), though there should be streams on sites like this one and this one.

Norway is in the European timezone, CEST, so 1 hour ahead of UK BST, 6 hours ahead of North American EDT, and 8 hours behind Australian AEST.

Those Youtube livestreams should stay there after the races are over, if you miss them, and there’ll be highlights on the UCI Youtube, as well as on the TV channel websites that are showing the races.

All startlists and results will be on the Tissot Timing site, either on the UCI page and on Tissot’s own above, and the entry lists and results are on the UCI site.

Tissot means we’ll have livetiming, which will be great for the time trials, and may include lap information on the road races.

If you want to follow live on twitter, the Bergen2017 account is excellent, and I’m guessing the UCI women’s cycling twitter may update us about their races?  The hashtag is #Bergen2017, and I’ll update my live racing list with people who are at the race.

You can also follow the race instagram, facebook and snapchat as Bergen 2017, and their website is fantastic.  Check out the full programme, with a ton of amazing-looking events.  And there is also a lot more information, including all the rules, on the UCI Worlds portal.

Enjoy!  I’ll be on twitter all week, if you have any questions – or ask me in the comments below.  I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Follow and watch the 2017 Para-cycling Track World Championships

2nd-5th March 2017

It’s a real shame that the 2017 Para-cycling Track World Championships was announced with only eight weeks’ notice, because it meant that a lot of important riders and teams just weren’t able to race – whether for budget or preparation reasons.  It should have been a great move, actually having a Para Track Worlds (not something the UCI prioritises), and running it alongside the able-bodied Track World Cup could be a step towards integrating the Para and Able-bodied Track events, which is something a lot of people have been calling for, for a long time.

But now it’s here, it’s time to focus on the positives!

The racing is in the Los Angeles velodrome, which last weekend hosted the first Track World Cup in the USA for 10 years.  The last session is going to have a livestream on the UCI website, on Sunday 5th March, at 1pm USA PDT (4pm EDT; 9pm UK GMT; 22:00 European CET; 8am Monday Australian AEST)

But how can we follow the racing until the livestream?

Videos and media from the 2017 Cyclocross World Championships

I still can’t get over the amazing women’s racing from the Bieles 2017 Cyclocross World Championships!  The U23 women’s race was incredible enough, and then the Elite Women’s was just completely spectacular – one of the very, very best races I’ve ever seen in any kind of cycling, women’s or men’s.  It had everything – riding skills, drama, surprises, and a worthy winner, on a fantastic course.  I’m still getting the hairs stand up on the back of my neck, thinking of it!

If you missed any of it, here’s my collection of videos, photos and other media.  There’s a lot of it!  I’m start with the Elite women, and then move onto the U23s.  As always, if you seen anything I’ve missed, tell me in the comments, or on twitter, and I’ll edit them in.

There are lots of fantastic videos on the Cyclocross Magazine YouTube and interviews with the Canadians, on the Canadian Cyclist YouTube, from before the races and after.

How to watch the 2016 Road World Championships

It’s Road Worlds!  Later than usual, but the cycling season has been weird this year, with the combination of the Olympic Games, and the Road Worlds in Doha, Qatar, they’ve been pushed back to try to make sure they’re not TOO hot.  Here’s my guide to watching and following the races live.  We should be able to watch some every race..

The UCI have already said that because the temperatures are likely to be very high, the races may be cut short, to protect the riders, so the information is about the original plan.  Click through the links to get to the course information…

If you miss the races live, those streams will have the full races archived after they’re over.

So, how can we watch?
