Podcast 2015 Episode 24 – How to Spell Cynical

Podcast logoG’day team! After our [insert choice of adjectives here] attempts at commentating live on Sunday we thought it was high time to catch you up on the rest of the wonderful world of women’s cycling. It’s been a huge week of racing and so we try to cover it all. There were 4 different world cups on over the past week. Vårgårda hosted the road disciplines while there was also MTB and 4Cross. Junior track worlds and more! (1:17:38 MIN / 74.54 MB)

Things we talked about this week

We covered a LOT of racing – and you can see all the videos from the (deep breath) Crescent Vårgårda Team Time Trial and Road Race World Cups, the Val di Sole cross country and downhill MTB World Cups, 4 Cross and Junior Track World Championships, the Sam Miranda Tour of the King Valley and the USA Pro Challenge in this lovingly curated post Sarah put together, along with results, photos, links and more.

We also talked about Amy Pieters leaving Liv-Plantur, and Stefan Wyman revealing how much it will cost to run Matrix Procycling next year, including implications of the new Women’s World Tour (if you missed that, we talked about it in last week’s podcast, with links in the post).   Want more Matrix?  Here’s a rider Q&A video by VoxWomen.

We didn’t talk about the Women’s Tour of New Zealand stopping again, but it’s over here.

Podcast 2014 Episode 36 – The Swedish Gods Unleashed Hell

Podcast logoIt’s been a couple of weeks since we last recorded (sorry, but sometimes we need to take a week off, catch our breath and regroup to get through to the end of the season – think of it like us having a rest day in the middle of the grand tour that is the season). Anyway, we catch up on ALL the racing since last time we spoke which includes the Ladies Tour of Norway, Vårgårda World Cups – Team Time Trial and Road Race, the last of this year’s MTB World Cups in Méribel, and even the Tour of the King Valley in the Australian National Road Series. We also discuss how far we’ve come in the last couple of years with improved video coverage and how that results in shifting our expectations from races (in a good way), and so much other stuff. It’s an amazing episode and it’s here for you to enjoy right now! (1:32:42 MIN / 89.00 MB)

Podcast 2013 Episode 28 – Pat and Brian Join Us

The-Unofficial,-Unsanctioned-Women's-UCI-Cycling-ShowThis week we’re joined by avid women’s cycling fans Pat McQuaid and Brian Cookson (or Dan’s rather terrible impression of them). We talk great racing, especially at the Lotto-Belisol Belgium Tour. We take a brief wander down nostalgia lane where Sarah tells Dan how awesome Australia is, and Dan reminds Sarah that every animal in Australia is trying to kill you. Somewhere in there we get sidetracked into a discussion of the weirdest/creepiest search terms people have used to find our website (turns out a lot of people are searching for cycling specific porn) which leads us to ponder a new business idea (not really). In non-silly stuff we also take some time to talk about the main health stories of the week, and how we’ve been inspired by particular riders. It’s a cracker of an episode, well worth the price of admission (it’s free!). ( 1:10:21 MIN / 67.53 MB)

Podcast episode 15 – Let’s raise a grand

Well holy-moly kids, what a day and a bit it’s been. When Sarah and I recorded this episode our exciting new Unofficial, Unsanctioned Social Media Jersey project had barely been live for 12 hours and we were already amazed, excited, humbled and thrilled beyond words. You’ll hear us fumbling for what to say in the opening minutes of this week’s episode. By now, as it comes time to post the episode, the project’s been up for just over 24 hours and we’ve already raised more than double our original target.

Honestly, we can’t thank you enough for the support and interest you’ve already shown in the project. You’re amazing and you’re part of something that is going to be really special. Together we’re going to be able to give several riders a really special, and unexpected surprise. Sarah will post more details soon on what we’re planning to do as our total raised grows, but the short version is that we’re going to give away more prizes, so please don’t ease up on promoting it yet. There’s plenty of time left to donate and to make our total prize pool even bigger and better.

Anyway, on with the podcast! This week Sarah and I discuss “big, strong men” vs Emma Pooley and Sarah claims to know how to take a punch. It turns out mixed teams aren’t what you think they are and I learn to brainwash ladies. It’s a lot of fun so listen along here .

And iTunes subscribing-ness can be found here.

If you haven’t read the original post about the jersey project, never fear! Here it is.
