It’s Monday, so time for some racing videos and links from the world of women’s cycling, including road, cyclocross, track, a bit of MTB and some random stuff I’ve liked.
The first UCI race of the season has already happened, with daily streams and great coverage across social media. The results are all here, and there are photos on facebook – Stage 1, Stage 2, Stage 3, Stage 4 and Stage 5
This week it’s the first UCI road race of 2014, the first ever Tour Femenino de San Luis, in Argentina, and there’s a live-ish stream.
What do I mean about “live-ish”? Well they have video on the start and finish-lines, and cameras at key points in the race, and a continual stream of the finish area throughout the bits of the race they don’t show, with audio commentary in Spanish. It’s not the full race, but it’s a lot more than we got from big races like the women’s Flèche Wallonne and Ronde van Vlaanderen this year! The stream’s here, and I am using the race’s twitter hashtag #TourFemeninoSanLuis to help follow the action.
The race runs 14th-18th January, and I’ve got a preview on Podium Café, where I’ve put timings and information about the race, and as usual we’ll use the comments to add links to photos, videos and other things we find, as well as live updates while the race is happening. I’ll also be posting things I like onto my tumblr, under the Tour Femenino de San Luis tag.
There are proper race previews on VeloFocus (in English) and on El Pelotón (in Spanish). Here’s mini-video from Stage 1 by United Healthcare, whose brand-new rider Hannah Barnes won.
I love 2014 so far! This week we’ve had the first national Road cycling championships of the year, in New Zealand and Australia, a load of National Cyclocross Championships across the world, and other interesting things – and today it’s been the team launches for Rabobank-Liv and Giant-Shimano (the team formerly known as Argos) so there’s a ton of videos, photos and links to share with you. Read on below, and add anything you’ve seen and liked in the comments.
The first national road race title of the year went to Rushlee Buchanan, in her first race for brand-new women’s team United Healthcare, with Wiggle Honda‘s Linda Villumsen second, and Reta Trotman third
Last week I posted videos from the Aussie ITT and Crit Champs, and on Saturday it was the final race in Ballarat, the road champs. SUCH a great race!
Mostly I’ve been watching the mid-winter cyclocross – so many great races and fun things, and I’ve been collecting links to videos, photos and other CX miscellany in this post (I especially love Balínt Hamvas’ race photos) as well as how to watch this week’s races – but these are some other things I’ve liked recently. If there’s anything you’ve seen that I’ve missed, please please add that to the comments, or let me know on twitter.
