I love this time of year – it’s when we get all kinds of live women’s cycling, and it makes me very happy. This weekend we’ve got three live races to watch – the Downhill and Cross Country Mountain Bike World Championships in Mont-Sainte-Anne, Canada, and the Prudential Ride London GP, a crit in the heart of London that passes Buckingham Palace. And as well as that, we can follow the 2015 Para-Cycling Road World Championships. Do you feel spoiled? I do! Here’s how to watch the MTB and crit live, and how to follow the Paracycling, and the Sparkassen Giro Road World Cup as they happen.
The race is part of the Olympic legacy weekend of racing, and while I’m sad the women don’t get to ride the Olympic road race course like the men (& sportif riders do), it’s an excellent event. The race starts at 6pm UK BST (19:00 Euro CEST, 1pm North American EDT, 3am Aussie AEDT) and it’ll be shown and streamed live – I recommend watching Rochelle Gilmore commentating on BBC2 from 6pm – and you can watch online here if you’re in the UK…. while I’m doing something super-scary, commentating my first official race, with Hugh Porter, for the international feed, which I think is on Eurosport and British Eurosport, Eurosport Asia and SKY NZ. Aaargh!
The course is the same finish as the Olympic road race, down the Mall, then round St James’ Park. If you happen to come to the race, come and hang out with some women’s cycling fans from twitter afterwards, in the ICA Café on the Mall.
