Look, we do understand that not all weeks can be huge weeks of racing, but honestly this week was definitely a HUGE week of racing. We had stage racing at the BeNe Ladies Tour in the Netherlands and Belgium. We also had the Lotto Thuringen Ladies Tour in East Germany. With races suiting different types of riders and different types of racing there was no shortage of surprises and feats of phenomenal prowess to be impressed by. All of that before we get into the high mountains for the Col d’Izoard and La Course by Le Tour de France. We also quickly cover some Canadian racing and talk about a couple of other news items from the week. (1:03:46 MIN / 58.39 MB)
This week Sarah and Dan talk through all of the racing for the junior women and the elite women at the Healthy Ageing Tour in the Netherlands. A fantastic set of races that are run entirely by volunteers that include live coverage for the elite women and comprehensive video highlights for both, proving that there really are no excuses for big race organisers (*cough* ASO *cough). There’s also a bit of time to discuss what the race organisation looks like and involves along with a look ahead to the beginning of the Ardennes week of hilly classics, beginning with Amstel Gold on Sunday. Most importantly, Sarah teaches us all the Buffalo Bill joke. (1:24:43 MIN / 77.56 MB)

Videos from the 2017 Junior and elite Healthy Ageing Tours – “samenvatting” are the highlights, Junioren are the Junior race highlights, and the full elite race replays are usually in three parts (eg “deel 1 van 2” is part 1 of 2 – if it’s “uitzending”, it’s just one broadcast.
- Elite Stage 1a ITT and Junior Stage 1
- Elite Stage 1b
- Junior and Elite Stage 2

We’re fully into the cobbled classics section of the season and we’re a little bit excited. We recap the races of the last week, in particular Dwars door Vlaanderen and Gent-Wevelgem which were great and had captivating finishes. Then we take a look ahead at what to expect on this holiest of cycling Sundays, when the women hit the cobbles for Ronde van Vlaanderen. We also talk about the first round of the Enduro MTB racing in Rotorua, New Zealand. There’s the ABSA Cape Epic to catch up on and we also follow the India Pacific Wheel Race (even covering some of it live – sort of) where Sarah Hammond is third overall, and the riders have already covered 4,500km but still have about 1,000km to go. It’s an epic podcast for a week of epic racing! (1:32:23 MIN / 84.58 MB)
This week’s women’s cycling news and links
We really, really want to see the Ardennes Classics live – or at least see the finishes live! Please do take 5 minutes this week to contact the race organisers and tell them you do too – Sarah has links and advice about how to do this, in this post.

Videos, links and media from the Elite, Junior and U17 Gent-Wevelgem
We haven’t had a flat Road World Championships since Copenhagen in 2011, so the sprinters were rubbing their hands with glee. We’d seen the Team Time Trials and the Individual Time Trials on the course, but how would the peloton take it? Find out with videos, photos, links and results from the Junior and Elite women’s road races – so exciting, and some amazing moments!
I’ll edit in more as I see it – if you have media you loved, please do let me know in the comments or on twitter.
Highlights and full race replay:
If you don’t want to watch the whole thing, click here for the final 1.5km, for a textbook sprint finish – high-speed, perfect lead-out. Keep going until the last group crosses the line, because that was a really cute moment – but whatever you do, make sure you keep watching until the slo-mo overhead, it’s perfect racing. I adore the final lead-out rider, Chiara Consonni, cheering for Elisa Balsamo’s win before she’s even crossed the line – so confident! And I really, really love the Italians singing along with the anthem:
September is always so busy with tons of racing, it’s wonderful. On of this week’s road races was the Boels Rental Ladies Tour in the Netherlands, with most of the big teams, and that combination of classic Dutch-style racing with wind, echelons and 1000 attacks on a mostly flat course until the final stage all over the Cauberg and the other Limburg hills. There’s always a lot of video and media from the Holland Ladies Tour, and this year lived up to expectations, so grab a cuppa, and enjoy! Of course I’ll add in more as I see it, and you can share things I’ve missed in the comments
This race had fantastic social media, with tons of updates on the race twitter, including photos and videos. The race’s own videos include the finish-line, and clips of the race, as well as interviews with the winners, and you can find photo galleries for the whole race from Boels-Dolmans, Rabo-liv, and Liv-Plantur – with more stage galleries below, too.
G’day team! This week Sarah’s been in the Netherlands for the Energiewacht Tour and it was spectacular, so we recap what it was like to be at the race and to see the junior women riding as well as the elite women. We also cover the results from Redlands and the Emakumeen Saria. There’s a lot of racing to get through as we go stage by stage but lots of interesting moments to catch up on and as always a lot to be thrilled by. This episode comes free with a bag of wily foxes to listeners in jurisdictions allowed to have them*
(*no actual wily foxes are available to anyone anywhere, ever). (1:19:45 MIN / 73.0 MB)
Sarah’s needs a bit of a sleep following her race travel but will update with a links post full of photos and videos and whatnot soon.
As always, feel free to support all the hard work she puts into bringing you the very best of women’s cycling via her Patreon page here.
This week’s episode is an epic one. I’m not gonna lie, Sarah and I are ridiculously excited about the news leading up to the Ronde van Vlaanderen this weekend. It’s going to be amazing. Before we get into that though we catch up on everything Gent Wevelgem! There’s the Pajot Hills Classic, the first round of the Enduro World Series (from Chile!) some BMX and whole load of other interesting bits and pieces from around the web. We also have a new pinnacle of HTFU to present and some more great news about prizemoney (and all the ways in which that’s fantastic too)! We’ve got some great rider blogs and a heap of new videos to check out below as well! (1:08:59 MIN / 63.0 MB)
