The final big Downhill MTB race of 2016 was a huge one – the 2016 World Championships. And because this is MTB, we have a ton of videos, photos and excellent media for you. I’ll be editing in more as I see it, but wow, there’s a lot already, including the Junior women and the 2016 Four Cross Worlds.
It was a really tough course – very steep, very technical, full of deep dust, treacherous holes and Let’s start with the Full race replay on Red Bull TV.
Want to see that from Atherton’s perspective, on her GoPro? I know you do!
The MTB circus continues to Switzerland, and the Lenzerheide round of the MTB World Cup – both Downhill and Cross Country this week – and I’ve got videos, media and photos from the women’s races to share with you!
Let’s do it chronologically…
Full race replay, and highlights, both on Red Bull Bike. And UCI highlights:
One of the things that made me fall in love with Mountain Bike was getting to see all these extraordinary landscapes, all over the world – and the Cairns round is incredible. It’s in the Australian rainforest, with all the snakes, spiders, stinging-trees and difficult conditions that comes with that – although this year it was damp, rather than 2014’s torrential (for the women, at least!). But beautiful! And the other reason I fell so hard for the sport is that the media is fantastic. Here’s my collection of videos, photos and more fun stuff from the 2016 Downhill Round 2, and first Cross Country World Cup of 2016.
Downhill World Cup #2
Let’s start with the amazing Red Bull Bike coverage – we can watch the full race replay (top 6 women, and top 20 men) over here. I love the winner’s interview (no spoilers!) around the 33:15 mark – and I really love the Red Bull video highlights too.
There’s more highlights here:
But there’s so much more!
The 2015-6 Cyclocross season has given us more racing to watch than ever before, and the 2016 World Championships at Heusden-Zolder continue the trend – we’ll be able to watch the junior men and the u23 and elite women and men live, with TV and livefeeds. It’s so exciting – especially for the u23 women, as this is the first time there’s been more than one women’s category, and the younger riders can race for their own win, rather than get destroyed by the superstars.
I’m here to tell you how to watch it all, and if the first options don’t work for you, where to go for help. Here’s the UCI TV Schedule, to tell you which races will be shown on channels around the world – for example, NOS in the Netherlands, and Belgium’s Sporza will show all the races which will have commentary from CX superstar Marianne Vos before and after the race. If some or any of the races aren’t shown in your region, never fear, the UCI is streaming all races on their Youtube, where they’ll also be archived afterwards – here are the timings and links:
- Men’s Junior World Championships, Saturday 30th January, 11:00 Euro CET (10am UK GMT, 5am USA EST, 9pm Aussie AEDT) – UCI stream.
- Women’s u23 World Championships, 30th January, 13:00 CET (12pm GMT, 7am EST, 11pm AEDT) – UCI stream
- Women’s Elite World Championships, 30th January, 15:00 CET (2pm GMT, 9am EST, 2am AEDT) – UCI stream
- Men’s u23 World Championships, Sunday 31st January, 11:00 CET (10am UK GMT, 5am USA EST, 9pm Aussie AEDT) – UCI stream
- Men’s Elite World Championships, 31st January, 15:00 CET (2pm GMT, 9am EST, 2am AEDT) – UCI stream
Click through to those streams now – if you can see a countdown, you’ll be able to watch it on the day, but if not, don’t worry.
Alright team, there’s been so much racing in the last week that not even Sarah could keep up with all of it! That doesn’t stop us from trying to tell you all about it, crack jokes and swear prolifically as we do so! Among other things, this week we cover the Boels Rental Ladies Tour, the Tour de l’Ardeche, MTB, BMX and more. Settle in and relax as we go round the world. (1:25:48 MIN / 82.38 MB)

We’ve only found one video, but since it’s Valentina Scandolara’s GoPro as she attacks, we’ll take that, happily!
WOW that was amazing racing – with cycling legends made, and some really TOUGH courses.
There’s been so much great content from the 2015 Mountain bike and Trials World Championships, in Vallnord, Andorra already, and I’ve posted the women’s race action from Days 1-4 here (Trials Semi-finals and Cross Country Eliminator and Relay and u23 XCo videos, results and photos) but it didn’t stop there – here’s what I’ve found from the women’s junior and elite Downhill Finals, and the Elite Cross Country races… OMG!
