The finale! Videos and media from Stage 9 of the 2016 Giro Rosa

Stage 9 of the Giro Rosa was always going to be beautiful, running around the shores of Lago Maggiore in northern Italy (check out the video recon on the race facebook), but we also knew it was going to be a tough way to finish the race.  Hardened Giro Rosa-watchers know that even though the profile looks like this…

Screen Shot 2016-07-10 at 11.41.46The actual roads will be anything but benign!  An early breakaway group of 9: Charlotte Bravard (Poitou Charentes Futuroscope.86), Maria Giulia Confalonieri (Lensworld-Zannata), Ingrid Drexel (Astana), Sheyla Guitierrez Ruíz (Cylance), Mayuko Hagiwara (Wiggle-High5), Thalita de Jong (Rabo-liv), Lauren Kitchen (Hitec Products), Riejanne Markus (Liv-Plantur) and Ane Santeseteban Gonzalez (Alé Cipollini)

The break were allowed to spend 2 laps out together, as they had no GC threats – but with the GPM approaching, the bunch behind started to speed up, and their lead of around 5 minutes began dropping fast – so break riders started to attack.  Would the break survive?  And would any GC contenders try to attack?

Videos, photos and race reports from the stage below – as always, I’ll be editing more things in as I see them, so do leave me a comment, or tweet me, if there’s anything I’ve missed.

More Italian video – 15 mins on the race facebook.

ITT time… Video & more from Stage 7 of the 2016 Giro Rosa

After two stages of tough climbing in the Italian heat, it was another day to shake up the Giro Rosa General Classification.  21km, with some technical details – here’s a little video preview on the race facebook, and some details:

And it didn’t disappoint!  It was a thrilling ITT, nail-biting right up to the wire.  Everything to race for, and some amazing results.  Check out the videos, photos and other media – and I’ll be editing in more media as I see it – tweet me, or leave a comment if you find things I’ve missed.  You can find my previous collections of videos from the race under my Giro Rosa 2016 tag.

The climbing continues – videos & media from Stage 6, Giro Rosa 2016

Yesterday may have been the Queen Stage of the Giro Rosa, but Stage 6 was another day full of climbing, descending, and an uphill finish.

Such an exciting stage to “watch” on twitter (although super-frustrating, as a lot of the tweets seemed out-of-synch, so it was hard to work out which was the most recent updates) – and check out the profile:

Screen Shot 2016-07-07 at 13.14.25No wonder it shook up the General Classification all over again!  Check out the videos, photos, race reports, and tweetery.  As always, I’ll be editing in more video, photos and reports as I see them – please do share anything I’ve missed in the comments, or tell me on twitter.  You can find my previous collections of videos from the race under my Giro Rosa 2016 tag

Video recon on the race facebook (so pretty!)  – and Claudia Lichtenberg’s thoughts before the stage.  8 mins highlights video on the race facebook – and videos of Argentinian team Xirayas de San Luís on the Tour Femenino de San Luís Youtube.

Love that RAI showed the women’s highlights during the live broadcast of the men’s Tour de France stage, as once again, not much was happening there.  And it lead to this great moment:

Video: Stage 3, Giro Rosa 2016

Stage 3 of the 2016 Giro Rosa was flat, and as far as we could predict, looked like one for the bunch sprinters – but would the peloton let that happen?  Here’s the media we’ve got from the race…  I’ll be adding more in as I see it (please do share anything I’ve missed, in the comments, or on twitter)
