This week’s podcast is a little bit of a catchup as we cover off the impact that May has had on the peloton with races going on in the USA, the Basque country, Belgium and more. Riders and teams have had to choose where to apply their focus and resources and it’s made for a very interesting month. We take a particular look at how the Tour of California and the Emakumeen Bira played out and then how they contributed to the way that Gooik-Geraardsbergen-Gooik was raced. As always, there’s plenty to laugh about and more than a few diversions along the way! (50:37 MIN / 46.35 MB)

This week we catch up on the Basque races with Durango Durango, and all the stages of Emakumeen Bira. There’s a couple of Dutch races blown (pun intended) apart and then there’s Dan’s annual rant about the race that we should be able to see live but can’t (oh Flèche Wallonne, we’re still not going to buy you a beer). But Sarah maintains her resolution to see the half-full part of the glass and we prove that as we look ahead to the MTB action in Cairns and all the racing in the week ahead. It’s a huge episode packed full of great highlights, amazing races and really interesting results. Enjoy! (1:23:33 MIN / 76.5 MB)

It’s a little over a week before the spring classics which means it’s the perfect time for us to catch up on some of the cool things we’ve seen this week. Sarah challenges Dan to a game of “Is this sexist?” and we also have a surprise announcement about an exciting comeback! There’s a whole bunch of laughs and some great stuff. Sit back with your favourite whisky and have a listen! (56:28 MIN / 51.7 MB)

We’ll put up the rules for the 2016 Unofficial Unsanctioned Social Media Jersey later in the week – but here are the posts about the 2012 version.
We didn’t talk about this, but Sarah loved this:
It’s a short episode because Sarah literally has to rush off to the Aviva Women’s Tour (thanks Patreon supporters for making this possible!). Before she goes we quickly recap Philly, the Spanish racing and almost preview the Women’s Tour. Hit play and enjoy! (30:45 MIN / 30 MB)

Read all about the Emakumeen-Bira here. (Check out the awesome photo galleries!)
The Diamond Tour’s podium setup raised some questions from riders like Marijn de Vries and had the organisers quickly putting out a statement. Anna Zivarts gave us a glimpse of what it might look like the men were treated in the same way.
And, of course, the Aviva Women’s Tour is a hotly anticipated race with lots of media and Marianne Vos doing commentary for the tv highlights!
G’day team! This week is a bit of a catchup as Dan’s been travelling and managed to pick up a cold, possibly even man-flu, while doing so. The good news though, is that there is HEAPS to talk about! We discuss Basque racing, including the Durango and Bira kinds along with the North Star Grand Prix in the US, there’s a huge amount of blogs and videos to catch up on, we’ve got mountainbike action in downhill, cross-country and 4cross formats. We also talk about some great and especially honest interviews we’ve found during the last week or so and we take a moment to argue about whether or not we’ll feature the Giro Rosa theme song on next week’s podcast! And don’t forget the huge range of links to various things we have further down the page. Enjoy! ( 1:13:02 MIN /70.11 MB )

Hi everyone! Dan’s still bouncing all over Australia so we’ve made a slight change to our podcast schedule. We’ll be recording and posting a new episode this weekend, but in the meantime Sarah’s been busy keeping up her series of special one-on-one interviews. This week she talks with South African national champion (and African continental champion) Ashleigh Moolman about upcoming races like the Emakumeen Bira, her intimidating maths skills and how a nasty horse-riding accident changed her perspective on life. As regular listeners know, we’re big fans of Ash and not just her riding, but also her friendly and positive manners, along with her excellent social media. This is another great interview and well worth a listen. (49:38 MIN / 47.66 MB)

If you would rather read this interview, there’s a transcript over on Podium Café – part 1 is here. UPDATE! And Part 2 is here
You can read more about Ash on her excellent blog , where there are so many great posts – head in and have a look. She’s got a fantastic twitter, too, and you can also follow her adventures through the Hitec Products website and twitter.
Last year Ash won the Boels Rental Hills Classic, and came third in the Flèche Wallonne World Cup, and Stage 4 of the Giro Rosa – watch the videos here
and here’s Sarah’s interview with Ash after Flèche, on Podium Café.
You can follow the Emakumeen Bira with our Podium Café friends, Babelia, Marcos and Saul – follow them on twitter through those links, and Babelia through the Road & Mud twitter account. Of course I’ve added them all to my live race tweeting twitter list, and we’ll have a race thread here on the Café too. There is information on the race website, and previews on
And Road & Mud has a history of the Basque races, in Spanish or via google. And if you didn’t see if last year, or want to be reminded of it, check out Saul’s article on being at the race, right here on the Café!
Hi kids! This week it’s pretty much all Giro Rosa, Giro Rosa, Giro Rosa. The race is ongoing. We’ve had three amazing stages and Sarah and I do our best to capture the variety and craziness of it all. We also look at what’s left (including stage 4 which is going on right now!!!!!) and we slip in a few swears and rants just so you feel like we’ve made a good effort, but in the interest of getting the episode up quickly it’s all in one glorious take. Here’s the first ever UNEDITED Unofficial, Unsanctioned Women’s UCI Cycling Show! (1:17:42 MIN / 74.59 MB)

Of course, we had to start with the official Giro Rosa theme tune!
