Podcast Episode 22 – Sarah Knows US Geography Good

Podcast logoHi everyone! This week we race the clock to try and cover all the racing we saw during the week. After a couple of slow weeks, it’s back to full tilt with the Boels Rentals Hills Classic, Gooik, Philadelphia, the Marianne Vos Classic, Edinburgh’s round of the Tour Series, Grand Prix de Plumelec and lots more. There’s also a bunch of great blogs, videos, podcasts and stuff too. Even with all of that going on there’s time for Sarah to prove that she knows US geography like (literally) nobody else! Somehow we manage to keep it under an hour without skimping on the laughs, the bickering or the swearing so strap on your headphones and enjoy! (57:09 MIN / 54.87 MB) Don’t forget to tip your waitstaff!

Nice little Specialized-lululemon video – Evie Stevens gives top tips on the post-race interviews, and how to podium kiss, and Tiffany Cromwell demonstrates the proper use of podium bubbly

Podcast Special Feature – Sarah discusses race social media with Clara Beard

Continuing her series of special one-on-one interviews, Sarah talks with Clara Beard of Tour Tracker fame about race coverage, the technology behind updates and the challenges of covering a race without live video to guide you. They talk about what it’s like to manage the social media for races and compare their experiences with Tour of the Gila, Tour of California, USA Nationals, the Friends Life Women’s Tour and the Edinburgh round of the Tour Series. There’s also (super mature, with NO snickering) talk of dongles… (1:14:21 MIN / 71.57 MB)

Clara Beard is Ferncoyote on twitter – and Sarah is @_pigeons_ if you want to ask them any questions (or tell Clara she’s awesome!)

Clara was working on the Tour of the Gila, where she was doing live twitter updating amongst other things.  She also works for the Tour Tracker, most recently at the Tour of California and the USA National Championships, and you should install their apps, they’re great.  She’ll be with them at the Tour of Utah, so keep an eye out for that.

Sarah was working on the Friends Life Women’s Tour, running the live updates on the website and on twitter.  You can listen to her talk about the race on that week’s podcast, and see her photos from the Edinburgh round of the Tour Series on her flickr.

Podcast 2014, Episode 3 – We need to talk to each other!?

Podcast logoIt’s official! The season has started! The Ladies Tour of Qatar is now over and so we talk racing, deserts, camels, worlds in 2016 and heaps of interviews and stories we’ve seen around in the last week or so. Dan accidentally makes a very dirty camel joke, which he admits is actually better than the drinking joke that he was actually trying to make. We also talk about mental health, politics and whether it’s possible to write a book of the entire cycling season in the style of The Odyssey. So basically it’s exactly like every other podcast, except with normal levels of swearing restored! Enjoy! (1:07:11 MIN / 64.50 MB)

Podcast 2013 – Episode 38 – The Trifecta of Accents

Podcast logo Our title comes from the fabulous Clara Beard, who talks to us about growing up as an American in Britain and what it was like to race in Europe and the US. She also tells us why she left racing and why she came back (via Tour Tracker). Later in the podcast we turn the tables somewhat and let Clara exercise her professional journalist side by interviewing Sarah and me. We talk about what changes we think need to happen in cycling (along with some of our pet peeves) and Clara explains what really happened with the coverage of the women’s time trial at the Tour of California. We also cast our minds forward to 2014 and realise we’re already very excited about what the coming year holds! (1:27:37 MIN / 84.11 MB)
