Podcast 2016 Episode 29 – Hypocritical For a Cause

Podcast logoThis week we cover the huge amount of video and information coming from the Tour de l’Ardeche and contrast that with the dearth of information available from the Boels Rental Ladies Tour. We take a bit of a detour through interesting team performances over the course of the year and wind up with a look ahead at worlds, the paralympics and a whole heap of forthcoming racing. It’s back to epic length podcastery this week and it is stunning! (1:18:03 MIN / 71.48 MB)

Videos and media – 2016 Boels Rental Ladies Tour

September is always so busy with tons of racing, it’s wonderful.  On of this week’s road races was the Boels Rental Ladies Tour in the Netherlands, with most of the big teams, and that combination of classic Dutch-style racing with wind, echelons and 1000 attacks on a mostly flat course until the final stage all over the Cauberg and the other Limburg hills.  There’s always a lot of video and media from the Holland Ladies Tour, and this year lived up to expectations, so grab a cuppa, and enjoy!  Of course I’ll add in more as I see it, and you can share things I’ve missed in the comments

This race had fantastic social media, with tons of updates on the race twitter, including photos and videos.  The race’s own videos include the finish-line, and clips of the race, as well as interviews with the winners, and you can find photo galleries for the whole race from Boels-Dolmans, Rabo-liv, and Liv-Plantur – with more stage galleries below, too.

Podcast 2016 Episode 12 – Wily As A Bag Full of Foxes

Podcast logoG’day team! This week Sarah’s been in the Netherlands for the Energiewacht Tour and it was spectacular, so we recap what it was like to be at the race and to see the junior women riding as well as the elite women. We also cover the results from Redlands and the Emakumeen Saria. There’s a lot of racing to get through as we go stage by stage but lots of interesting moments to catch up on and as always a lot to be thrilled by. This episode comes free with a bag of wily foxes to listeners in jurisdictions allowed to have them*
(*no actual wily foxes are available to anyone anywhere, ever). (1:19:45 MIN / 73.0 MB)

Sarah’s needs a bit of a sleep following her race travel but will update with a links post full of photos and videos and whatnot soon.

Podcast 2016 Episode 11 – I Can’t Love It Enough

Podcast logo

Sarah’s in The Netherlands this week for the Energiewacht Tour and so we tried some skype trickery with her phone, hopefully the sound works out for the most part. In any case, the Ronde van Vlaanderen was spectacular on Sunday and it was spectacular! We catch up on our favourite parts of the race and all of the things we loved. We also discuss the issues with the streaming and what we think that means for future races. We take a quick look at the GP Dottignies and look ahead to the racing coming up. It’s a quick one, but a good one! (55:11 MIN / 50.5 MB)

With Sarah and Dan both travelling this week for race coverage and work, we haven’t had time to do the full link roundup but you can make sure you stay current on all your women’s cycling news with these:

Podcast 2016 Episode 10 – This Week in HTFU

Podcast logoThis week’s episode is an epic one. I’m not gonna lie, Sarah and I are ridiculously excited about the news leading up to the Ronde van Vlaanderen this weekend. It’s going to be amazing. Before we get into that though we catch up on everything Gent Wevelgem! There’s the Pajot Hills Classic, the first round of the Enduro World Series (from Chile!) some BMX and whole load of other interesting bits and pieces from around the web. We also have a new pinnacle of HTFU to present and some more great news about prizemoney (and all the ways in which that’s fantastic too)! We’ve got some great rider blogs and a heap of new videos to check out below as well! (1:08:59 MIN / 63.0 MB)

2016 women’s Gent-Wevelgem – videos, links and more

I have to start with a warning that we’re not going to get as much from Gent-Wevelgem as we did from the previous rounds of the 2016 Women’s World Tour, Strade Bianche, Ronde van Drenthe and Trofeo Alfredo Binda, BUT we still have highlights!  Here’s what I’ve seen from the Elite women, and the junior women’s races as well – and of course I’ll edit in more as I find it (please do share anything you see in the comments, or on twitter too)

World Tour #4, Gent-Wevelgem

7.5 mins highlights from Sporza – and my English commentary that goes with it, which I made before I saw that UCI video – you can compare and contrast them and me!  Start the audio first, then press play on the video when I tell you to.

(If you can’t watch the Sporza link, there’s a Robin Hood-ed YouTube link here too – but we should definitely give Sporza the clicks!)

Podcast 2016 Episode 8 – Depths of Nerdery

Podcast logoThis week we talk up a storm about all the racing that’s happened over the last week (and how it’s nice to get live video this week!). We catch up on Drenthe, Drentse8 and the ABSA Cape Epic. There’s another very open video from Wiggle High5 about their performance on the weekend. There’s been some really interesting articles come out that caught our attention as well – and as always we have heaps of links, videos, articles and more in the post below. Dan doesn’t actually pick a fight with anyone this week but we do invent a new board game. It’s a long one and it plumbs new depths of nerdery! (1:23:02 MIN / 76.02 MB)
