Podcast Episode 22 – Sarah Knows US Geography Good

Podcast logoHi everyone! This week we race the clock to try and cover all the racing we saw during the week. After a couple of slow weeks, it’s back to full tilt with the Boels Rentals Hills Classic, Gooik, Philadelphia, the Marianne Vos Classic, Edinburgh’s round of the Tour Series, Grand Prix de Plumelec and lots more. There’s also a bunch of great blogs, videos, podcasts and stuff too. Even with all of that going on there’s time for Sarah to prove that she knows US geography like (literally) nobody else! Somehow we manage to keep it under an hour without skimping on the laughs, the bickering or the swearing so strap on your headphones and enjoy! (57:09 MIN / 54.87 MB) Don’t forget to tip your waitstaff!

Nice little Specialized-lululemon video – Evie Stevens gives top tips on the post-race interviews, and how to podium kiss, and Tiffany Cromwell demonstrates the proper use of podium bubbly

Podcast 2013 Episode 16 – There Are No Left Turns on the Rollers

Podcast logoAfter last week’s ranting and misanthropy we found a lot to love in this week’s racing. Enough that Sarah actually got her mojo back! We’re all grateful for that and so we start by embarking on a romp through the races. Gooik-Geraardsbergen-Gooik, Boels Rental Hills Classic, US Nationals and so on. Dan loses that ability to tell if he’s being dirty or not. Sarah asks for access to all of Dan’s social media accounts (he declines). We divert through some classic Helen Wymanisms and take a quick look at The Milk Race in the UK. We catch up with the results of Gracie Elvin’s twitter experiment and then things take a turn for the dark as Dan reviews Pat McQuaid’s op-ed for Cycling News about the UCI Stakeholder Survey (hint: he calls it “18 kinds of fucked” and then has a rage-blank). We do suggest you stick around for the bit where he triple-dares Pat to the world’s shortest policy debate. This is a super-long episode (sorry, sort of but not really) so make an extra cup of tea or pour twice as much whisky and get ready. (1:34:07 MIN / 90.36 MB)

Big thanks!

It was a crazy long weekend of women’s cycling – amazing racing on the road and MTB, all over the place.  I wrote about the action on Total Women’s Cycling, but I wanted to post a ‘thankyou’ post.  I’ve been struggling with my fan-motivation for the last few weeks – there was just so much bad news everywhere, and that really got me down.  But then, this weekend!  So much superb racing – and getting to enjoy it with an online community of fans, including watching riders on twitter having a great time and congratulating each other too – it reminded me exactly why I love the sport.

So, in no particular order….

Videos from this weekend’s women’s racing

There were a whole load of races this weekend – here’s some video from road racing in Europe and MTB in the Czech Republic – and hopefully someone will find the video of the amazing racing in the USA!

On Friday, it was the Boels Rentals Hills Classic, aka Holland Hills – all around the hills of the Valkenberg region, including the Cauberg.  This one is a hard race – last year Marianne Vos broke her collarbone in a fall here.
