Podcast 2017 Episode 22 – Giro Rosa WrapUp – With Top Quality Evil

The Giro Rosa has finished for 2017 but we’re far from done with it. With great racing every day, it’s perhaps best summed up by Neal Rogers talking about Lucinda Brand when he said: “Only thing more badass than “no one in the photo”? No one in the photo with blood trickling down your arm”. Sarah and Dan recap the biggest stage race on the calendar and all of the highs and lows the second week of racing brought us. After that they continue with the overview on the Tour de Feminin in Poland before wrapping up with some quick results in other disciplines and a glimpse of the calendar ahead, and in 2018. Podcast 2017 Episode 21 – It Was a Genuine Giro Miracle!

We’re at the halfway point through the 2017 Giro Rosa with five stages completed. We cover each of the stages so far, from the opening TTT through to the ITT and all the travails and changes on GC in between. There has been more than a fair share of surprise Giro geomorphology including some truly brutal climbs and so on. An incredibly close sprint finish and more. There’s lots to cover and lots more to speculate on as we continue into the second half of the stages. (Spoiler Warning: We do actually cover the end of stage 6 so bail out early if you don’t want us to reveal the winner for you). (1:06:11 MIN / 60.69 MB)

You can also get automated, free updates via our RSS feed here, or via our iTunes store page here.

Sarah’s been collecting all the videos, photos and media of the race so far in handy posts:

And here’s our reminder of how to follow the rest of the race.

Shirt week! Summer shopping, Part 1: The 2016 WorldTour team kits

I’m very excited about the Aviva Women’s Tour, starting in a fortnight, because it’s still SO amazing to me that the best riders in the world get to race on British soil.  But it also reminds me of all the great fan interaction I’ve seen at the previous two races, and especially seeing kids and adult fans in team kit having great interactions with the riders and teams from those kits – especially the teen girl who ended up riding with Marianne Vos, after Vos saw her in the Wiggle Honda kit!

So, in case you’ve always wondered where you can get women’s cycling pro team kit, here’s Part 1, kits from the teams that get automatic invites to the Women’s WorldTour day races – I’ll be back with UK teams and USA teams soon.  And if a team’s not here, it’s because I can’t find their jersey for sale, so if you see it somewhere, please do let me know, so I can edit it in…  And if you want to see more of the team kits, I’ve got links in the 2016 WorldTour kit vote post.

Before we start with the teams, though, the Aviva Women’s Tour has a shop, where you can buy the race yellow jersey and Queen of the Mountains jersey, and all kinds of racewear from hoodies in black and blue to T-shirts. Wear your heart on your sleeve!

Alé is a cycling clothing brand, and the team kit is a version of the Bubbles design, which is available without team branding for women and men – not in short sleeve right now, but it’s for sale in the women’s winter jersey and jacket, and men’s winter jersey and jacket.  You can also buy the 2014 team kit in women’s sizes.

Podcast 2014 Episode 41 – WoW Part Two!

Podcast logoIt’s been a week of worldly indulgences and this week’s podcast is no exception, hell we’re barely a minute into things before Dan’s invoking our theoretical lawyers and claiming indemnities! Anyway, this week we recap the women’s trade team TTT, the junior women’s ITT, the Elite women’s ITT (where Dan rather belligerently changed the results and history to suit his preferred view of the race – also Sarah sounds her “Smugness Alert”) AND we preview the Road Race! Also there’s some complicated polemica-y stuff which is important but hard to talk about, so of course we discuss that. We also talk about how sometimes these harder stories don’t get reported much in the press, possibly because they’re so complex and there’s a lot of stuff you can’t explain easily or quickly. On top of all of that we have the latest transfer news and the week wouldn’t possibly be complete without a bonus survey, so we’ve put that in too! (1:17:42 MIN / 74.6 MB)

Podcast Episode 22 – Sarah Knows US Geography Good

Podcast logoHi everyone! This week we race the clock to try and cover all the racing we saw during the week. After a couple of slow weeks, it’s back to full tilt with the Boels Rentals Hills Classic, Gooik, Philadelphia, the Marianne Vos Classic, Edinburgh’s round of the Tour Series, Grand Prix de Plumelec and lots more. There’s also a bunch of great blogs, videos, podcasts and stuff too. Even with all of that going on there’s time for Sarah to prove that she knows US geography like (literally) nobody else! Somehow we manage to keep it under an hour without skimping on the laughs, the bickering or the swearing so strap on your headphones and enjoy! (57:09 MIN / 54.87 MB) Don’t forget to tip your waitstaff!
