G’day team! It’s a crazy amount of racing to cover this week (Sarah even had to split screen multiple races at one point!) and so we dive into it, catching up on US racing including the US national time trial and road race. There’s been a wealth of European road racing as well with Plumelec, Gooik and more. There’s the latest round of the MTB Cross Country World Cup, there’s BMX world championships and a bit of discussion about the Olympics and what national teams might look like. As usual there’s heaps of interesting blogs and articles to mention as well! And possibly our best joke ever. (1:08:23 MIN / 62.62 MB)

Things we talked about
This week’s racing
Videos from the 2016 BMX World Championships, and the La Bresse Cross Country MTB World Cup in this post.
Video highlights on L1.nl. Photo gallery from Boels Dolmans, and their race report, and report and photos from ORICA-AIS. Full results.
All the American Winston-Salem races!
This weekend was very busy on the road, but off it, it was two huge competitions – the 2016 BMX World Championships, and Round 3 of the 2016 Cross Country MTB World Cup, La Bresse. And thanks to Red Bull TV, we got to see the finals live – and have a whole swathe of videos and other media to watch. Here’s what I loved…
Such a stunning course, and such exhilarating racing – drama right up to the end, and tons of media. We started with this Red Bull Bike video course preview, with legend Gunn-Rita Dahle Flesjå‘s point of view, and had this PinkBike gallery from the practice, and then went on to the finals. Here’s the full race replay on Red Bull TV, and the highlights from the UCI:
It’s a bit of a hectic podcast this week as there was only one short window where Sarah and Dan could coordinate their schedules to record. On the upside, it’s a bit of a hectic podcast this week! Anyway, it was cobbly and rainy in France, which kind of makes La Course a summer classic, right? In addition to recapping the multiple attacks, crashes and attempts in Paris, we also discuss the BMX World Championships and the Para-Cycling World Cup. Enjoy! (58:38 MIN / 56.3 MB)

We didn’t talk about it, but we loved this video from Nettie Edmondson

2015 BMX World Championships
The BMX World Champs are on this week in Rotterdam – and one of the great things about these Champs is they have races for tons of age groups, from 5 years old – and the elite finals will be streamed live on 27th July, on Red Bull tv and on the UCI youtube, and archived in the same places afterwards
The stream will start at 14:20 CEST (1:20pm UK BST, 8:20am USA EST and 10:20pm Aus AEST) (click through for a countdown to when it starts in your timezone) – and if you know anything about Dan and me, you’ll know we’ll be cheering for Caroline Buchanan to win again! More info on the race website., facebook and follow their twitter, where they’ll be adding all the results of the other competitions as they happen – and here’s the competition promo:
This week didn’t have as much racing as the last few weeks have had but somehow we still managed to fit in the Sparkassen Giro, BMX World Championships, Vallnord MTB World Cup and more before getting into the substantial number of issues, comments, interviews and general things that happened during the week. It’s a long episode, but it’s mostly happy (except for the title which is dedicated to someone rather special)! ( 1:34:10 MIN / 90.41 MB)

Here’s what we talked about this week….
Sarah got a bit excited about this weekend’s BMX World Championships and Vallnord MTB World Cup – she’s collected the videos from the races in one handy post.
Marianne Vos raced Vallnord XCo and didn’t do so well – but we love her even more for this tweet:
Okay, that was crap… I’ll skip the feeling from today’s race and look at the whole mtb experience this year. Happy I took this challenge!
— Marianne Vos (@marianne_vos) July 27, 2013
We love that she keeps pushing herself and learning – and admitting when things don’t go her way, and finding the good in it.
This weekend was full of some completely incredible racing. If you’re missing the Tour de France, love the more “extreme” end of cycling, or have never watched MTB or BMX, let me help you out with some brilliant coverage with superb commentary to help you fall in love….
If you’ve never watched BMX, it’s very simple – they race through heats to a final, six riders racing a short, lumpy track with tight corners, the first one to the finish wins. There are a lot of places to start with the coverage here – here’s the short version, the women’s final:
