Watch THREE women’s races live on 5th June! 2016 Zuidkempse Classic, Fort William MTB World Cup & Philadelphia Classic WorldTour

Sunday 5th June 2016

Get ready for an amazing Sunday of women’s bike racing!  We’ve got iconic courses in downhill MTB and road, and a brand-new Belgian Classic, and it’s going to be wonderful.  I’ll tell you how to watch them all live, in chronological order…

Zuidkempse Classic – aka Keukens van Lommel Ladies Classic, aka Herselt

I love Belgian races and their multiple names! This is Round 6 of the Lotto Cycling Cup, a series of tough races around the country, and even they call it about 3 different names!   It’s a looping course, pretty much flat, two 29k laps, 6 6.9km laps and then one of 4km, and it’ll include riders like Marianne Vos and Jolien D’hoore, and I’m really excited about the Lotto Cup’s steaming!  This will be on here, from 15:00 CEST/ 2pm BST/ 11am AEST/ 9am EDT – and you can also follow via the Lotto Cycling Cup twitter and the #KVLLC hashtag.   Draft startlist on Cycling Fever.

Downhill MTB World Cup #3, Fort William

This is going to be the most amazing race.  Downhill is always full of adrenaline, in breath-taking surroundings, with fantastic fans – and for us at home, there’s always tons of media.

First there’s the stream, showing the top 8(ish) women then the top 20 men, streamed on Red Bull TV on Sunday 5th June, from 2:30pm UK BST/ 15:30 Euro CEST/ 11:30pm Aussie AEST/ 9:30am USA EDT. It’s not always exactly in real time, so if you want to to be a surprise, stay off twitter!

You can follow the build on on twitter, though, on the #UCIMTBWC hashtag and via the race twitter, and there’s lots of great information on the race website.

Then there’s the MTB media.  I’ll be looking for video course previews, and videos from daily practice sessions in the days leading up to the race on Red Bull Bike, and photo galleries on Dirt MTB, Vital MTB and PinkBike. This should kick off from Thursday, and we’ve already got race previews from Dirt and from Red Bull Bike.

If you’re new to Downhill, this is a great race to jump in on – and I’ll edit in some of the pre-race media as I see it.

Pre-race media:

Philadelphia Classic

The 9th round of the UCI Women’s WorldTour, and in my mind, the best race in North America.  I love the history of this one (remember when Ina-Yoko Teutenberg called the men’s peloton pussies and told them to ride faster, as the women’s bunch overtook them?) and I absolutely love that climb.  The Manayunk Wall was just a steep street, until the first race organisers scoured Philadelphia for the perfect brutal climb to include – living in a hilly city, I long for that to happen here!

So much to love, so, in the best tradition of top USA races, isn’t it great that it will be streamed live on the race website?  The men’s race is first, then th women start at 12:30 USA EDT/ 5:30 UK BST/ 18:30 Euro CEST/ 4:30am Aus AEST.  We can also follow their race twitter, the #PhillyBikeRace hashtag, as well as the #UCIWWT hashtag, as well as the race facebook and instagram.

Click here for the latest startlists, or keep up-to-date with changes on Cycling Fever.  And check out Wiggle High5’s preview videos

I can’t wait for all of this!  I’ll be watching them all, and talking about the races on twitter, so give me a shout if you have any questions, or need help connecting.  And as always, I’ll be pulling together a post of videos and media after the weekend.

I’m funded to do this kind of thing by my wonderful Patreon supporters – many, many thanks!  You can join them from as little as £/€/$ 2 a month over here.
