Video from the 2015/6 mid-Winter cyclocross

The cyclocross season is in full flight, and we’ve had so many races over the 2015/6 Kerstperiode (the insanely busy time between Christmas and New Year, when the racing gets even more hardcore), and this season we had more media coverage than ever.  I’m here to share the women’s race videos – and as ever, if you want to see the men’s races too, the same YouTubes have their videos too.

Cyclocross World Cup 2015-6 #5 – Heusden-Zolder

Boxing Day started with the very fast Zolder circuit.  Highlights on Sporza and from the UCI:

Here’s the full race replay video from the UCI (English commentary) (you may need a VPN set to somewhere like Canada or Spain to watch this if it’s restricted for you) and full race replay video with Flemish commentary:

Full race results and the World Cup ranking after the race – it’s been such a great competition this year, Sanne Cant is the only rider to win two World Cup rounds this season… so far!  And as Zolder is the venue for the 2016 Cyclocross World Championships at the end of the month, those results are very interesting – does this mean Cant will end up in rainbows this year?

Great photo galleries by Balint Hamvas on Cyclephotos.co.uk and on Wei Yuet Wong’s Flickr.

Superprestige #6 – Diegem

The Superprestige is the invisible series, in terms of the women – the men’s is the floodlit race, but the women’s doesn’t even have highlights, which is a shame, as Ellen van Loy finally beat Cant.  Aaargh Superprestige….

Photo galleries on Cyclephotos.co.uk and on Wei Yuet’s Tumblr. Full results.

bpost bank trofee #6 – Azencross Loenhout

While the Superprestige is invisible, the bpost bank trofee is the opposite – SO MUCH COVERAGE!

Highlights video, and full race replay

And interview with winner Sanne Cant:

Full results, and photos on Wei Yuet’s Tumblr, and more on the bpost trofee website.

bpost bank trofee #7 – GP Sven Nys, Baal

No New Year’s Eve parties for the top Cyclocross riders – they celebrate New Year’s Day with another crazy-tough mud race, because of course they do!

Highlights on Sporza and from the bpost, and replay of the last part of the race:

and yet another Sanne Cant winner’s interview!

Full results, and photos on Cyclephotos.co.uk, on Wei Yuet Wong’s Tumblr, and on the bpost website – and series standings after Baal, with 1 final bpost race this season to go.

There were TWO live women’s cyclocross races on Saturday – massive luxury!

EKZ Cross Tour Meilen

A small Swiss series, that’s had great video.  This one was full of MTB riders.

Eva Lechner won, in her first race with new team Luna, while Pavla Havlikova won the series.  Full results, and there are a couple of photos on the race website.

Surhuisterveen Centrumcross

The second Saturday race – this video has the women and the men, fast forward to about 10 mins for the women’s race to start.

Anna van der Breggen used her road skills so well – she’s always had a great ‘cross talent, even though we don’t see her too often.  If she races the Dutch National Championships, and Worlds, this could be very interesting…  Full results and photos should turn up on the race website.

Soudal Classics #5 – Leuven

The Soudal Classics are are growing series, and while Leuven is a new race, the course is fantastic, full of tough technical sections.  And hooray for Sporza!  We can see it!  Highlights, and full race replay:

That was such a clever sprint from Sophie de Boer.  Sanne Cant is excellent, tactically, at refusing to pull on front when she’s in a final stage duel situation, making the other rider lead her out, and playing mind games all over – but De Boer wasn’t going to give up, and such a fantastic way to start 2016, after being injured for most of the winter.  Interview with her after the race, and more interviews, with Sanne Cant, and with Ellen van Loy, who fell hard.

Full results, and photos from Cyclephotos.co.uk, on Wei Yuet Wong’s Tumblr, and on the Soudal Classics website (including very cute children’s racing!).

WOW that was fun!  And the action doesn’t stop, as on the weekend of 9th and 10th, it’s almost all the Cyclocross National Championships and I’ll tell you how to watch most of those nearer the time.  As always, if you see any more media you love from the Kerstperiode racing, please do share it, here or via twitter.

I’m funded to do this kind of thing by my wonderful Patreon supporters – thank you so much!  If you want to join them from just $2 a month, there’s more information here.
