SO much racing video – 2015 Vårgårda, Val di Sole MTB, 4X, Sam Miranda, USA Pro & Junior Track Worlds

There’s been SO MUCH racing this last week, all over the world, in so many disciplines.

On the road we had the Cresent Vårgårda World Cup in Sweden, the USA Pro Challenge and the Sam Miranda Tour of the King Valley in Australia.  In MTB it was the Four Cross World Championships and the final rounds of the MTB World Cups in Val di Sole.  And over in Kazakhstan  it was the Junior Track World Championships – and there’s (so much!) video, photos & news about all of it.  Grab a coffee/fire up the trainer/open a beer etc, and get ready for some really great cycling!

Let’s start with the World Cups, move through the World Championships and then hit the stage racing…

Val di Sole MTB World Cup

The last MTB World Cup of 2015, can you believe it?

You know by now how much amazing media comes out of MTB

One of the things that saddened me at this race was Emmeline Ragot announcing her retirement.  She threatened it last year, but her big injuries this year have convinced her it’s time to go.  Here’s a piece about her on Red Bull Bike.

Cross Country

Marco Fontana’s helmetcam course previewPhotos, results and race report on Red Bull Bike, the full race replay (scroll down), and the UCI highlights video:

Video interviews with Catharine Pendrel and Emily Batty.  And Multivan-Merida’s post-race:

Four Cross World Championships

It was also in Val di Sole, but there’s not much media about it.  Here’s a short video clip with Anneke Beerten winning, and the full results.

2015 Junior Track Cycling World Championships

Day 2, with the women’s Team Pursuit

Day 3, with the Individual Pursuit

Day 4, with the women’s scratch

Day 5 – with the women’s omnium points, and keirin

All the results are here on the UCI site, and race reports from Cycling Australia – Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, Day 4 and Day 5.

If you’re British, and wondering why there are no young Brits there…  so am I.  There’s no way getting experience at World Champs level can’t help young riders win Olympics in the future…  getting used to the nerves, racing on a new track, competing against the best in the world…  at this point nothing British Cycling does would surprise me, but this feels so unfair on all those 16-18 year olds who have been training and working alongside their exams, rather than enjoying the perks of that age, to race and try to be the best they can be…  UGH.

USA Pro Challenge

Video interviews: Allie Dragoo after coming second on the Stage 1 ITT and Kristin Armstrong on winning it:

Universal video highlights from Stage 1, geo-restricted to the USA.  There’s a tiny bit of the women in the videos of men’s Stage 5 (women’s Stage 1), Stage 6 and Stage 7.

Post-race with Coryn Rivera, interview with the women’s race director,

Results from Stage 1, Stage 2, Stage 3, and the overall GC.

There’s bound to be more, so I’ll update as I see things – but if you’ve found more, let me know in the comments, or on twitter, and I’ll be super-happy!

  1. Thanks for pulling in some of the USA Pro Challenge links! You are right, only a tiny bit of women’s coverage during the men’s races. There was an Endure and Enjoy podcast each day with some women’s coverage during the last 4 episodes. There were also a couple periscopes, but they’ve since expired. More video coverage is definitely an area of improvement in 2016 for the women’s race.

    • For some reason I’ve really struggled with the USA summer races – I only realised Utah was live as Stage 1 happened, and I completely missed USA Pro (though I was somewhat distracted with Vårgårda and Val di Sole) – I can’t work out if it’s because i don’t read many cycling sites, use the UCI racing calendars, or it’s a timezone thing… or a combination of all of the above? But I don’t miss the spring ones, for some reason.

Maybe it’s also something about Tour Tracker? They have that and lock down anything else? But really I suspect it’s these big races, Utah, Cali and US Pro that don’t see the women’s races as fully part of it, in the same way Redlands, Winston Salem, Gila etc etc do? Or maybe it’s the fact there’s SO MUCH ON!!!
