In the deep midwinter…. Yes, the CX season ramps up, with races on Boxing Day, New Year’s Day, and this weekend we have another one of those iconic World Cups – Namur. This race takes place all over the citadel, the forested hill that rises above the river and the town, and it’s steep, one for the riders with MTB skills, who can climb and enjoyt the technical descents. It’s the first race back for Marianne Vos (and maybe Pauline Ferrand-Prévot‘s chance to win her first CX World Cup?) and yes, we can watch live!
Here’s the stream for the women – Sunday 21st December, 2014, 13:30 European CET (12:30pm UK GMT; 7:30am USA EST; 11:30pm Aussie AEDT)
The men’s race will stream here on the UCI Youtube, starting at 15:00 CET (2pm GMT; 9am EST; 2am AEDT) and there’ll be streams in the usual places too. If you can’t watch the UCI stream, try something like Hola or Tunnelbear set to the UK.
If you’re excited by the December cyclocross mayhem, you can check out what else is on in midwinter with gs’ handy cyclocross calendar – and here’s my guide to watching the non-World Cup races. Mull some wine, chuck some logs on the fire (erm, turn up the central heating?) and enjoy the best Belgian festive traditions of muddy carnage and extreme bike suffering!
