Podcast 2014 Episode 6 – Bickering FTW!

Podcast logo Hello everyone! This week Sarah and I talk about the results of Le Samyn, Hageland, the Drenthe world cup series, and the coverage that goes with it – including the new commitment from the UCI to a quicker turnaround on race footage and a race highlights package with commentary from Ant McCrossan and Rochelle Gilmore. We also talk about Clara Hughes and her big ride around Canada in support of awareness for mental health issues and that Ina-Yoko Teutenberg will be joining her for some of this 12,000 kilometre, continent-spanning expedition. We also discuss how much fun it is to bicker (and how good we are at it) along with a whole lot more stuff as well!! Strap yourselves in, grab a bottle of wine and enjoy the shenanigans! We both are huge fans of Clara Hughes, and recommend you have a look at and follow Clara’s Big Ride, a 12,000km ride across Canada with over 200 associated events, all aimed at reducing the stigma of mental health issues, and getting people talking about it.  There are ways you can get involved on the website, and you can follow Clara on twitter.

Clara will be joined on the ride by superstar Ina-Yoko Teutenberg – and we were really happy to be able to read Heidi Swift‘s recent profile of Ina from Peloton magazine.  Sarah’s favourite quote:

She might tell you you’re acting like an asshole, but it’s only because she has your best interest at heart. Teutenberg wants to make everyone around her better. She wants to make the sport better, make the racing better and make the riders better.

If you want more Lizzie, she’s in this month’s Rouleur magazine

Twenty16 Pro Cycling is now supported by Barry Bonds, and you can also buy their jersey:

The Boot Out Breast Cancer cycling team was launched this week – and on Friday 14th March, the Matrix-Vulpine has their team launch in Manchester.  If you’re anywhere nearby, do go and join them, they throw a great party – and if not, keep an eye on their twitter, because they’ll have a Google Hangout when you can join from afar.
