On Saturday 1st February it’s the women’s 2014 Cyclocross World Championships in Hoogerheide, the Netherlands – and there are a whole range of ways to watch it live!
The UCI is streaming it live on their youtube channel, with English commentary by Ant McCrossan – and if you miss it, the stream will turn into the archive as soon as the race is done.
The race will start at 15:00 European time (CET), which works out at 2pm UK; 9am USA EST and 1am Sunday morning Australian AEDT. If you click through to that link, it gives you a countdown to the feed starting, to help work it out in yourtimezone. But there are more options!
UPDATE! And now the race is over, here are all the videos and links I’ve found
Some countries will have it live on tv and the tv stream – Sporza in Belgium, for example, will start at 14:40 CET for the women’s race and will also show the junior, u23 and elite men live, and in the Netherlands, NOS Sport will be showing the women’s and men’s races from 14:50 each day, with commentary from Dutch cyclocross star Sanne van Paassen, who’s not racing this year due to medical issues. You can find the UCI’s tv guide for other countries here. USA people, you’ll notice that the UCI stream is go-restricted because Universal has the rights, and according to the guide might not show it live (if you’re a subscriber, check your schedule to confirm) – but you can use something like Hola (recommended by twitterfolk!) or Tunnelbear added to your browser, and set to the UK to see the UCI feed, and, as always, we all can find streams in the three usual places.
There’s loads of information about the race on the Hoogerheide website, including the programme for the whole weekend, the course map and the startlist for all four events – and the UCI will be live-streaming the junior men on Saturday from 11:00 CET (10am UK, 5am USA EST, 9pm Aus AEDT) and on Sunday 2nd, the u23 at 11:00 CET and elite men at 15:00 (UK 2pm, 9am USA EST and 1am Aus AEDT).
UPDATE! Live race information and video clips on Sporza’s Match Center for the women’s race – and there’s a live thread on Podium Café where you can talk (or lurk!) through the race with us. We’re very friendly, so if you’ve never watched CX, or talked there, we’d love to have you. And here’s what the course is like from an on-bike perspective:
I interviewed European Champion Helen Wyman about the race for Podium Café, and she gave a great course preview, and talked about who’s who in the women’s race – and there’ll be other preview information in the Podium Café Cyclocross Section, including live race threads where we’ll be chatting about each race. There’ll also be a ton of information and rider interviews on the usual sites, like Cyclingnews, VeloNews, and with a USA focus on Cyclocross Magazine, Velonation and Cycling Dirt, who usually have great videos.
If you want to follow the cyclocross women as they prepare for Worlds, I have a twitter list, which I’ll update to the startlist, and I’ll add whatever twitter hashtag is being used on the day – and as always you can ask me any questions, or share information for me to update here, in the comments or on twitter, where I’m @_pigeons_.
Big thanks to ednl, geert and Lyne at Podium Insight for your help finding information, I always appreciate it
Hope you all love the race – I can’t wait!
