Saturday videos – team presentation (and Marianne Vos) edition!

It’s that time of year, where team presentation videos are popping up all over the place, so, for your delectation and delight, here are some I’ve seen – please feel free to point out any I’ve missed in the comments, or to me over on twitter.  But first, before teamy things, I’m already excited about the first World Cup of the year, the Ronde van Drenthe, on 9th March 2013 – if you don’t know the race, it’s a superb Dutch Spring Classic, with a section through a building (seriously!), racing over slimy, mossy cobbled sections through forest, and about 3 times over the VAMberg, a man-made hill that used to be a municipal dump, with some great steep inclines.  I love this race!!!  Here’s Marianne Vos riding recon over the “new” route:

More video fun below the jump – including Emma Pooley, a brass band and a boat….

Yes, it’s Pooley’s new team, Bigla, launching on a launch (I’m SO funny!)

(If you missed the story last year, Pooley had said she was considering taking a year off from cycling, after yet another of her teams disbanded through sponsor issues – but she decided instead to sign for non-UCI team, Bigla, and race a reduced programme while she finishes her PhD in Geotechnical Engineering.  I hope we get to see her in all the best Pooley-ish races…  crazy suicide breakaways and big mountains….  happy sigh…)

EDIT!!  Here’s a video interview with Pooley from the team launch – thanks Mike!

From one team with a prominent British rider in it, to another – here’s the Boels-Dolmans launch, featuring Lizzie Armitstead, Adrie Visser, Martine Bras and the rest of the team.  Lizzie’s interviewed in English, and the rest of the video is in Dutch, but if we’re not Dutch or Belgian, we all need to practice our cycling-Dutch, right?

And, continuing that British theme, it’s the only UCI team registered in the UK – Wiggle Honda!

And you might have seen this, but more anglophone joy – Australian team Orica-AIS, with their new team leader, the Swedish superstar, Emma Johansson:

But speaking of superstars, here’s the new Rabobank Liv/Giant team at their launch, with, of course, Marianne Vos, with Annemiek van Vleuten, Pauline Ferrand-Prévot and the rest (in Dutch again, as you’d probably imagined it would be!)

Here’s another video from the presentation, from Dutch tv station NOS – click through and watch!

EDIT!!!  And here’s an article on VeloNation about the Rabo launch by Ben Atkins, my favourite women’s cycling journalist

And since we’re talking Vos (again!), here’s a Giant video of her at the 2013 Cyclocross World Championships:

and an interview, from Cyclocross Magazine, of her talking (in English) about her 2013 CX World Champ ride:

(Lots more interviews by them with lots of riders on CX Magazine’s youtube – including Lucie Chainel-Lefevre, Amy Dombroski, Georgia Gould, Kaitie Antonneau and Annie Last  thanks so much, Bassface!)

This isn’t a team presentation video, but it’s from Noemi Cantele‘s team, BePink, on their team camp in December:

So, who are we missing videos from?  Specialized-lululemon, Argos-Shimano, Lotto, Cogeas-Pasta Zara Manhattan and Cipollini-Giordana are the big teams I can think of – if you see anything from them, or any other team, for that matter, let me know and I’ll edit it in!

Big thanks, as always, to CyclingFlash, who pointed me to about half of these – check out his excellent work collecting women’s cycling videos on Cycling Fever – and to Bassface, who finds loads of excellent videos too – I appreciate it very much!

  1. And… unfortunately she picked up a flu bug and was unable to start the CX-race in Middelkerke (Flanders/BE), and she just tweeted she will be unable to start tomorrow in Heerlen (Limburg/NL) as well. So ends her CX campaign for 2012-13, nonetheless it was a very fruitful one indeed albeit an abbreviated one. Rest and get well, M, and see you on the road & MTB-trail soon.
